Following Hamas’s October 7th massacre, incidents of discrimination, harassment, and violence directed against Jewish students on college campuses dramatically increased. In Spring, these confrontations reached a fever pitch with threatening anti-Israel demonstrations happening on campuses around the country, many including explicit calls to violence against Jews and antisemitic rhetoric. It is past time for Congress to send a message by passing the Antisemitism Awareness Act. Thanks to you, and the advocacy of the Jewish Federations, the House already passed the bill with an overwhelming bipartisan majority. Now is the time for the Senate to act as well.
This bill will cement the policy of the prior two administrations, and utilizes the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, including its examples which capture not only traditional anti-Jewish hatred and Holocaust denial but also modern antisemitism targeting Jewish Americans for association with or connection to the State of Israel. We need you to reach out to your Senators and urge immediate passage of the Antisemitism Awareness Act.
Fill out this action alert and let your Senators know that a vote for this bill is a vote for the Jewish community, and vote for Jewish students, and a vote against antisemitism. Spread the word and urge your friends and family to join the cause. Together, we can ensure bipartisan support and pass this vital bill.
