I write to you as a concerned constituent and a member of the Jewish community to urgently request your support for the measure to fully fund critical security assistance for Israel in its fight to destroy Hamas. I recognize that this is the first step in a process that will continue to unfold.

I urge you, as my representative in Congress, to do everything in your power to support this critical $14.3 billion in emergency security assistance to Israel, which includes critical missile defense systems that help keep civilians safe from Hamas rocket attacks. It is imperative that we act decisively and without hesitation to ensure that Israel has the tools and resources necessary to protect its people and show the world the ironclad relationship between the US and Israel.

Additionally, I am encouraged that the Supplemental Budget request also includes $200 million for FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program. Recent conflicts between Israel and Hamas have led to a surge in antisemitic and anti-Zionist incidents across North America. Jewish communities are bracing for potential terror attacks, anti-Israel activities on campuses, and anti-Israel policies in various forums. The Nonprofit Security Grant Program helps ensure the safety and security of Jewish and other faith-based community institutions. The increased funding included in the Supplemental Budget Request will help bolster our community’s capacity to protect itself at this challenging time. In addition to the $200 million for NSGP in the supplemental budget request, we also advocate that the program be funded at a total of $500 million on an annual basis in FY24, and for Leader Schumer's plan to create a $1 billion fund for NSGP that communities can draw down in times of crisis without having to ask Congress for additional appropriations.

Lastly, Jewish Federations have also been steadfast in our philanthropic support for the Ukrainian people. I encourage you to support continued U.S. aid to Ukraine to safeguard democracy not only in Ukraine, but also globally. Since the start of the Russian invasion, Jewish Federations and affiliate community organizations have helped resettle over 2,600 Ukrainians across the country.

As my representative, I respectfully request your endorsement of this critical funding.
